SOMEONE IN THE ATTIC

He had not known who to call, so he had just got in touch with Henry’s favorite YouTube star, a paranormal investigator named Mr. Creepy. He had certain devices that started to make beeping sounds when he had entered the house, he had held them in his hands and had gone upstairs, when he had reached the attic door, the beeping noises had become very fast. He was talking in a microphone and there was a guy with a camera recording him. He had stopped at the attic’s door where the beeping sounds had become extremely fast and annoying.

Henry had woken in the morning, but was still too weak to walk around. Helen had left the house and had taken Henry with her to her sister’s house. Arthur had stayed, he had called the paranormal investigator himself and had stayed alone in the house for about a week. Nothing had happened to him, but he had heard voices of all kinds, there were people whispering, children playing and men shouting and laughing. It was like the ghosts or whatever they were did not care anymore about his existence. He had seen the tall woman twice, she had not come towards him but had just walked away, laughing a mirthless laugh that had given him goosebumps. He had also gotten used to it and had not given much attention to anything he had seen.

He had taken care of his foot himself, and had not gone to any doctor. It was getting better, but his house had been getting worse. He did not much care about the noise, but his house had become unbearably cold and there was always a smell of rotten things, like an animal had died in the house. He had lived there, without calling for any help for about a week and he lived with the voices, the smell and the cold. Until one night someone knocked at his door, when he looked outside there was nobody, but when he tried to sleep the knocking started again. The knocking went for the whole night due to which he could not sleep. He had fallen asleep while working.

He had researched about Mr. Spooky and had emailed him, he had been more than happy to come. Arthur had thought that he was a very helpful person, but it turned out that he was happy to get a new home for his new videos. He had come with all his gear, his paranormal devices and his video devices, his crew of four was with him as well. At the sound of his paranormal devices he had been very happy, he had asked his crew to get the setup ready at once and they had not even asked anything from Arthur. They had walked around the house and stopped near the attic door, seeing the speed of the device’s beep for a second Arthur had thought that he was scared.

He stepped back and went downstairs. When they were downstairs, he looked at Arthur and said, “So you say you saw her, and her family?” He snorted after saying the word family, and so did his crew members. Arthur felt anger surge through his body, “Yes, I did, for the last seven days, I have been hearing them all around the house. I heard children play, men and women talking. I had seen this tall lady more than once and all she had done was laugh. “Of course she will laugh, she has taken your house as her own. Now that you describe all that, I feel like you are right, she does live in here with her whole family. I suppose your attic is the place where you see most of the unusual things happen?” He nodded, “Yes, but it was my son who had seen it all happen, I had seen it in my dream. I had seen her eyes once when I had gone to bring my son down. Since then I had seen her in my dreams, my wife had seen her in my son’s room once.” He checked his device, which was still making beeping sounds.

“You know what this is?” At seeing Arthur’s face he said, “It’s called a ghost detector, it detects the magnetic pulses from them and tells you where they exist. Your attic does seem to be full of them, they like dark spaces and places where they are not much disturbed by us humans. Which makes attics and basements their favorite places to live. I do not think it would be good for us to go to the attic unprepared, we should probably be ready for whatever is up there. I am Sean aka Mr. Spooky and this is my team, George, Abs and Mr. Crums. We will stay here for the night, our work might go for almost about a week, so we will be here for a while.
